Have you been watching Project Runway?! Amanda and Kini are my favorites and I hope they make it to the end! Last week Project Runway Mary Kay Global Makeup Artist Luis Casco gave a muse on the street a makeover using a beautiful berry cheek and lip look. I've been looking for a more natural makeup look, so when my friends at Mary Kay asked me to try out this look I was excited! I love a bold eye, so it's a little tough for me to get out of my comfort zone and try a different (natural) look. But I was pleasantly surprised. Also I did my hair first today, so you'll get to see what I really look like, not just with messy hair!
First I started with Mary Kay CC Cream across my eyelids and under eye area. Then I lined my eyes and did two coats of Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara. You could just keep this look simple with a coat of mascara but for me, I like a little more! (While getting my makeup done for a friends wedding I ended up having to do my own eyeliner and mascara because the girl just couldn't do it right!) I then used a small blush brush to dab Mary Kay Cream Blush in Cranberry on the top of my hand. I then added a little of the Mary Kay CC Cream and using the brush, blended the two together to get a nice dewy color. (I tried the look yesterday with a makeup sponge and it worked, but the coverage was a little better with a
brush).
To apply, either smile or make a fish face (so the apples of your cheeks pop) and then use the blush brush to apply in an upward motion. The result will be a fresh flushed look, like you came in from the cold. Really pretty! It's a little hard to tell in pictures, but here's one that has a closeup of my eyes (lined with mascara) and the blush.
After the blush, I put on a light coating of loose mineral powder on my nose and forehead to fight shine. Then I put on a coat of Mary Kay at Play In the Plum Triple Layer Tinted Balm. This stuff is awesome, the color is great and it smells awesome! I then used my finger to dab on a little bit of Mary Kay Lipstick in Mystic Plum on my lips. This gives a nice color boost to the lip balm without being too overdone.
The finished look:
Verdict: I really like this look and have worn it a couple times now - I think this one will be added to my rotation!
