Healthy Cat Food... on a Budget?

Lately DH and I have been reading about what is really in pet food. It's pretty scary when you look at the packaging of your cat's food and see that the main ingredient is "crude protein". What?! So we are the search for a new brand of cat food - or possibly a recipe to make our own.

Does anyone have any recommendations or recipes they can share with me?

Feel free to comment or please send me an email ( frugalfab (at) gmail (dot) com .

Many thanks!

I feed my dog California Natural. It's made from human grade ingredients sourced in the USA. It's more expensive than other dog foods but I cut the budget in other ways and it's really worth it because my dog is in extremely good heath and I didn't have to worry about his food during the pet food recalls several years ago. I think they make cat food too.

I feed my cats Wellness pouches and they LOVE it! They are organic, and some are even grain free! You can totally tell the difference in their coats and overall health. You can check it out here http://www.wellnesspetfood.com/products.aspx?pet=cat&ft=4.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
