Whenever I buy something I always shop around. I compare shopping prices, read reviews, and ask for recommendations from friends.
Shopping Online:
You can often find the best deals by just googling whatever you are looking to buy.
Try the web sites of big box stores and search web sites like retailmenot.com to find coupon codes.
Put in some leg work - and ask questions!
When we were shopping for our deep freezer, DH and I ran all over town looking at the big box stores and comparing prices. I always make sure to make friends with the sales associate helping us and ask if there are any upcoming promotions - many times, we've gotten the scoop on next week's sale - or were offered the upcoming sale price right there on the spot!
Hold onto your receipt and watch prices even after you buy:
Most stores will guarantee a price for two weeks (or more!) So if you find the item you bought is on sale - bring in the ad and your receipt and ask for a price adjustment!
