Fun & Frugal Recipe - Crab Rangoon Dip

This weekend I finally made Delicious Diva's Crab Rangoon Dip
I thought it was decent but I had to call in my experts - my dear friend Becky and my Dad (true rangoon fans!) Here are my tips for this fun recipe:

Ingredients:
  • 1 8oz package cream cheese ($.99 )
  • 1 garlic clove ($.44 for whole head/$.05 a clove?)
  • 1 cup shredded swiss cheese (I shredded 3 slices of swiss about $.60)
  • 8 oz crab meat (Can't remember ? under $2)
  • 3/4 cup sweet and sour sauce (Dang, just realized I never put this in!!!!!!!) Free - from recent takeout!
  • 1 green onion ($.50 for bunch - $.05 for one?)
  • Tortilla chips = $2.29 from Walgreens (used giftcard - basically free!)
Directions
  • Bring cream cheese to room temp
  • Mix cream cheese, garlic, cheese and crab meat
  • Spread cream cheese mixture in bottom of small baking dish
  • Top cream cheese mixture with sweet and sour sauce
  • Bake at 375 for 15 minutes or until bubbly
  • Top cooked dip with chopped green onions
  • Serve with wonton chips
Estimated cost: $5.23 ish

Verdict:
  • Me: I think next time I will put the crabmeat in the food processor so it's super fine - (And I will definitely make it in my mini crockpot instead of baking it in the oven!) - and will of course, remember the sweet and sour sauce !
  • Dad: loved it but thought maybe a little extra cream cheese might be nice. Agreed with me on the texture.
  • Becky: Said it tasted like 'the inside of a crab rangoon' (She's so supportive! hehe) She suggested maybe a flavored/garlic chip (mmm...!)

2 gave me some sugar:
