Clarification on Facebook coupons - my rant.

Please don't email me asking me to send you the Facebook coupons, especially after I have already posted about how they are no longer valid. I don't care if your store "accepts them."

A little bitching about vyrlmkt or "check it out":
The funny thing with the facebook coupons was that they were perfectly valid from Friday, 8/15 - Tuesday 8/19. At that point the company realized they had screwed up (by allowing you to print them an infinite amount of times) and got scared that they would owe all of these retailers too much money. (Yes people made PDFs of the coupons but if they could print as many as they wanted from facebook- what's the difference?) Because there is visually no difference between the coupons legitimately printed and the coupons that were printed from pdfs, the company backpedaled and stated that all of the coupons were no longer valid, and was supposedly issuing statements to all retailers that these were all 'fradulent' coupons. Now I know these coupons seemed 'too good to be true' but according to the company they were perfectly valid on those first few days. Many are now worried that the retailers will not be reimbursed for these coupons, causing retailers to have stricter coupon restrictions (no IP's etc.) And MANY have been harrassed or embarassed before or after this whole situation came about due to the overall sketchiness of the entire situation. (Some are even threatening a class action lawsuit!) Yes, it is your choice to use these coupons but when the company issues a statement saying they are valid, we'd all like to believe it.

These people make me sick.

Right on! I was thinking the same thing...they issued the statement assuring everyone they were valid, that's the only reason I used them...only 1 went through, but come on. Now I'm nervous to go back to CVS...especially if all the cashiers are being told they're fake. Ummm....they were real on the day I used them?? Bullshit!

Man, what a lousy situation. :(

It was bad enough half the time we are made to feel like we're thieves using coupons, now add this to fuel the fire and it's going to get even worse!

I'm just glad the CVS I used them at is one I hardly ever go to... I know I used them legit, but I still feel like a fraud. Talk about not aiding the image of coupon users!! grrr I'm not sure I would use this program again if they got it back online, that's for sure!

yeah I tried to use them on that Friday and Wal-Mart wouldn't take them.. but then I stopped on my way home at Jewel (grocery store) and they took them. So over the next couple days I tried to get in a few deals using those coupons but either someone else bought all those products (the shelves were bare of those products) or they cleared the shelves intentionally! crazy huh?
